Meet The Coaches

Henry Johnson
Head Varsity Coach
Entering his ninth season at Brea, Coach Johnson is very excited for this season as head coach. He attended Santiago High School in Garden Grove where he excelled as a power forward /shooting guard and was awarded League MVP, All League for offense and defense, Team MVP honors, and went on to continue his basketball education at Rancho Santiago College in Santa Ana.

Coach Johnson enjoys teaching basketball while at the same time knows the life lessons he can instill in his players through the game. His 33 years as a player, 22 years as a CIF Certified Official, 9 years as a youth basketball coach, and 2 seasons as the Girl's Varsity Assistant Coach at Santa Ana High School give him the knowledge and passion to motivate and inspire his athletes.
Coach Johnson believes in hard work, dedication, passion, and sacrifice and he expects nothing less from his players. He understands and practices the core values in which it takes to turn a team into a family.

Colby Reese
Assistant Varsity Coach
Coach Colby is entering his first year at Brea and is excited to come back as a former player. He was an All League Player and a 2X Defensive Player of the Year while at Brea. After graduating he continued his career at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa. While there he was a two year captain and finished his career there in 2021.
Coach Colby is excited to be apart of the program that he himself played for. He’s looking forward to the opportunity to jump on the court with the guys and be hands on.

Jeff Gomez
Assistant Varsity Coach
Joining the basketball team staff this year, Jeff Gomez is a veteran Assistant Varsity Coach with 39 years of experience under his belt. Prior to coming to BOHS, Coach Gomez spent a year at Ocean View High School after working as the number one Assistant Coach at Foothill High School for 12 years. At Foothill, he was invaluable coach who led the team to 2 CIF Championships and 5 League Championships while shaping it into one of the top basketball programs in Southern California. Before his time at Foothill, Coach Gomez spent 9 years at Villa Park as the number 1 Assistant Coach and contributed to the team's 9 League Championships, 4 trips to CIF Finals, and 3 trips to State Tournament Finals.
In the late 80’s, Coach Gomez was an integral part of Orange High School's success where he spent 7 years as the Varsity Assistant Coach under current Tustin High School Head Coach Ringo Bossenmeyer. Before Orange High School, Coach Gomez gained his first coaching experience at St. Anthony High School in Long Beach, where he was a Varsity Assistant Coach for 8 years. During his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his daughter Broklynn, his son Jeff, and his wife Terri.

Ken McCall
Athletic Trainer
I started working for Brea Olinda High School as the Athletic Trainer in 2003. My primary job responsibilities include prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries for all student athletes. I received my Bachelors degree in Kinesiology from CSULB in 2002 and passed the NATABOC exam later that year to become a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). In 2003 I became a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and in 2004 I became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). In 2005 I started teaching ROP Sports Medicine and Therapy here at BOHS and started a new Medical Careers class in 2015. I have also created an athletic training student aide internship and have several students working closely with me as they use their knowledge and skills from the classroom to prepare for higher education and employment in health care.
